The 641 Cookbook Club is an engaging one-hour program held monthly at the Laurel-Jones County Library, where food enthusiasts come together to explore cookbooks and share their culinary creations. Founded from the library staff’s passion for discussing food, this club fosters a community of cooks eager to share unique interpretations of dishes inspired by personal experiences, family recipes, and popular cooking shows or platforms like TikTok.

Key Features of the 641 Cookbook Club:

  • Culinary Exploration: Each month, a different theme is selected, encouraging participants to dive into a specific cuisine, ingredient, or cooking style, making every meeting a fresh culinary adventure.
  • Recipe Sharing: Members are encouraged to choose a recipe related to the monthly theme, prepare it at home, and bring it for sampling at the next meeting. This promotes sharing food, stories, and tips related to each dish.
  • Community Building: The club provides a friendly environment for food lovers to connect, share experiences, and exchange cooking techniques, fostering friendships over a shared love of food.
  • Access to Resources: The “641” in the club’s name refers to the call number for cookbooks in the Dewey Decimal System, highlighting the library’s extensive collection of cookbooks available for patrons in the non-fiction section.
  • Discussion and Learning: Each session includes discussions about the prepared dishes, with participants sharing their thoughts on flavors, textures, and the cooking process. This collaborative learning environment encourages creativity and experimentation in the kitchen.

Whether you are a seasoned chef or a novice in the kitchen, the 641 Cookbook Club invites you to join a community that celebrates the joy of cooking, sharing, and learning together. Bring your appetite for delicious food and good company!
