DESCRIPTION:The Friends of the Laurel-Jones County Library will be hosting an Author Spotlight on Friday\, August 29 with Jason Markiewitz.  His book is Sarajevo Roses.\n\nJason Markiewitz has spent more than 27 years in the United States Air Force\, serving in South Korea\, Italy\, Afghanistan\, and the Balkans\, along with numerous stateside locations. During his assignment to Headquarters\, Allied Forces Southern Europe\, Naples\, Italy\, in 2002-2003\, he was forward deployed to the Balkans as part of a NATO contingent and it was that experience that shaped this book.  In addition to being an author\, he is an actor\, a voice actor\, an award-winning audiobook narrator\, and an audio drama producer.  He is married to his high school sweetheart and they share three wonderful children together.\n\nSarajevo Roses is a collection of poetry with accompanying photographs that takes a first-hand look at the after-effects of the second Kosovo war. Verse by verse the reader will be taken behind the scenes\, through the rubble\, and deep into the countryside to experience the devastation of the past\, the pain of the present\, and the hope for a better tomorrow.
