DESCRIPTION:February is National Heart Health Awareness Month. South Central Health Care Foundation and the Laurel-Jones County Library are partnering together to offer a FREE Cholesterol Screening on Friday\, February 3\, 2023 at the LJC Library.  \nHigh cholesterol puts you at risk of heart disease and usually has no signs or symptoms. The only way to know whether you have high cholesterol is to get your cholesterol checked. Your healthcare team can do a simple blood test\, called a “lipid profile\,” to measure your cholesterol levels. \nWho Needs to Get Their Cholesterol Checked? According to the CDC\, the following should have their cholesterol checked: \n\nMost healthy adults should have their cholesterol checked every 4 to 6 years.\nSome people\, such as people who have heart disease or diabetes or who have a family history of high cholesterol\, need to get their cholesterol checked more often.\n\nThe screening is free\, however an appointment is required.
